Bletchley Campus Open Event - 20th November
Come along to our Bletchley campus to see what life at Milton Keynes College is really like.
If you want to work in the armed forces, emergency services or the Criminal Justice System, a college programme is a good start. It’s a good way of finding out whether a career in the Police, Fire Service, Royal Marines or Prison Service is for you.
You should have a tough character and not be afraid to take on tasks that many others may not be prepared for. You will need perseverance and want to build your communication, leadership and team working style.
You’ll be taught by specialist teaching staff and make use of our strong links with local services, with trips to Fire & Rescue training centres, Army Youth Team, sports centres and gyms. This is a great foundation to understand the possible career paths in public services and how they work together in the community.
There will be opportunities for volunteer work, health and fitness as well as a lot of outdoor activities for you to enjoy, like rock climbing, canoeing and orienteering.
You can progress through Levels 1-3 and focus your study in a particular area, studying citizenship, fitness, crime and its effects on society along the way. Ultimately, you will be well-armed with the skills necessary to enter a career in public services or even go on to study in Higher Education.
A career in Public Services relates to anything from the Police Force, the Armed Forces, the Emergency Services, and the Prison Service. People in this industry have the important responsibility of keeping us safe, being the first to react to criminal activity and emergencies, and keep order in society. A successful career in the services requires outstanding dedication, discipline and communication skills, but is incredibly rewarding.
Levels available: 1, 2, 3
