Chaffron Way Open Event - 10th November
Come along to our Chaffron Way campus to see what life at Milton Keynes College is really like.
The Creative & Performing Arts Department promotes a dynamic and innovative environment, providing a wide range of courses for all levels of ability and aspiration in the heart of Milton Keynes.
In joining the college you will have access to the latest industry-standard facilities and thinking. You can gain exposure to a variety of artistic approaches, materials, techniques and processes that will prepare you for further study or employment within the art sector.
All of our Performing Arts courses are awarded by the prestigious University of the Arts London (UAL), giving you a qualification certified by a world-renowned University. In turn, all of our Make-up Artistry courses are awarded by the nationally recognised VTCT.
The most important thing to have in this industry is passion. If you love what you do, whether it's learning the steps to the latest hit musical or using your knowledge to decide on the best set of make-up brushes to use, our specialist staff will help you develop your artistic talent. We are looking for students with the ambition to succeed to the highest of standards, with the determination to progress both personally and professionally.
Throughout your time here you will gain hands on commercial experience, preparing you for entry into the creative industry or further study at University. Milton Keynes College can take you up to degree level qualifications such as a Higher National Certificate for make-up artists, and can prepare performers to be ready to take on the next step, whether it's further education, drama school, or straight into work.
You’ll be expected to work on live briefs within your chosen industry, whether it's Live Performance, Theatrical, Film, and many more. At the end of the academic year, you will have the opportunity to exhibit your portfolio to the public at our end of year show at Middleton Hall, thecentre:mk. We encourage collaboration between courses, for example fine artists studying with budding film-makers, and fashion designers working alongside performers and musicians, which will enable us to put on the most spectacular show possible.
Each year our highly successful students go on to join prestigious Performing Arts schools including, East 15, Urdang Academy and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Some have decided to continue their studies at university, or have been fortunate enough to go into work straight away. As a qualified make-up artist, there are a number of different pathways you could go down, including moving onto further qualifications, such as the HNC in Theatrical Make-up, or into a position in the industry.
