Welcome to the Care, Health & Childcare department

What’s it all about?

The care industry has never been more in demand than today. With the amount of vulnerable people rising, including an increase in life expectancy, the care industry already employs around 1.7 million people.

Jobs in frontline care are set to see tremendous growth and will become a sector of increasing significance in the lives of many. Our courses prepare you for providing the specialist care that vulnerable people of all ages require.

Is it for me?

If you love people, whether they are three or 93, you will find working in the care industry extremely rewarding. The industry has its clear challenges, and having such an important role in a number of different people's lives is no easy feat.

You must want to make a difference in someone's life to be successful in care. Stepping into help someone get their breakfast and have a friendly chat could be the difference between a good day and a bad day for some people, and their appreciation and gratitude will be more rewarding than anything financial.

Simply wanting to be with people, and having the right values is probably the most important requirement employers want to see from new starters.

What will I do?

You can start your journey into the care profession at our acclaimed training facilities by learning alongside our expert team with rich knowledge and industry experience. Whether you are interested in Health & Social Care or Childcare, whatever you choose we will help you develop your skills in an encouraging setting to help you achieve your goals.

Caring is about wanting to get to know clients, being responsive to their needs and, for many, becoming like a trusted family member. These are all skills that can’t necessarily be studied for in a classroom, which is why we provide excellent opportunities for valuable work experience and volunteering.

What can I do next?

Your studies could directly lead to the start of your career, or you may choose further study in social care, healthcare, childcare or education, or take a place at University.

"I was very close with my tutor, I could tell her anything and she was very supportive of me. MKC has been the stepping stone to employment in my career path, and it has helped me to get one step closer to my dream job."
