Bletchley Campus Open Event - 20th November
Come along to our Bletchley campus to see what life at Milton Keynes College is really like.
Taking a course in the arts is by no means the "lighter option". Diving headfirst into the industry requires hard work, passion and determination. With every course awarded by the prestigious University of the Arts London (UAL), you will gain a qualification accredited by a world-renowned University.
The Arts Department promotes a dynamic and innovative environment, providing a wide range of courses for all levels of ability and aspiration in the heart of Milton Keynes. If you bring the mindset and right attitude to succeed, we'll bring you access to the latest industry-standard facilities and teaching of the most up to date trends and developments in the industry.
Taking an arts course will expose you to a variety of artistic approaches, materials, techniques and processes that will prepare you for further study or employment within the art sector.
All arts students are required to work on live briefs in their respective areas, developing new skills and learning how to use different equipment. This also helps prepare you to work in a real life environment or for further study at University, working to tight deadlines and expectations.
Milton Keynes College could take you up to degree level qualifications such as a Higher National Certificate or Diploma (HNC/HND).
At the end of the academic year, your portfolio will be on public display at our end of year show at Middleton Hall, thecentre:mk. Collaboration between artists from different courses is hugely encouraged, for example fine artists studying with fashion designers working on a catwalk show, with photographers standing by to lend a helping hand.
If you can tell a pointillism piece from a realist piece, know what kind of lighting you need to take a good self portait (ok, technically it's a selfie), or are bored of high street fashion and think you could do it better, then a course in the arts is definitely for you.
The arts offer you a chance to let your individuality shine through. There are no right or wrong answers (apart from maybe a few fashion faux pas) in creativity, with the opportunity to really let loose with the industry standard resources provided by the college.
Our specialist staff are on hand to encourage and inspire your creativity and development, both personally and professionally.
The college holds a vast number of links to Milton Keynes art organisations, with a programme of visiting artists, exhibitions and trips.
Through our contacts we are able to offer work experience and enrichment opportunities in related subject fields. For example, previous students have been able to work alongside Charles Fox London, Harry Potter Studio, Clothes shows, as well as theatres and galleries in Oxford and London.
Without the arts, our society would be a pretty boring place. The arts form part of our identity as a society, and contributes to our quality of life. What would life be without colour and creativity? From giant advertising billboards, right down to the artwork on this website, design and creativity is at the forefront of everything we do. Design and imagery are just as important to businesses as the services they offer, and art departments are often responsible for the most successful and impactful campaigns.
