I qualified from the Grace Andrews College in Birmingham and after graduating I worked for Essanelle Hair and Beauty in Leamington Spa.
After working in a spa I decided I wanted to work for myself and set up my own business by renting a room in a busy hair salon.
I worked for myself for 3 years before I took the opportunity to work on board cruise liners in the Bahamas. I worked for the Royal Caribbean as a Beauty Therapist and completed a 9-month contract with them, which gave me the chance to do what I loved while getting to see the world. This then led to me living in Holland for a year, renting a room in a Perfumery store allowing me to work for myself again.
When I returned to the UK I went to work for Elizabeth Arden in a popular department store in Milton Keynes. My job role was an In-store and Regional trainer. This involved me training consultants on products and services.
During my time at Elizabeth Arden, I went to evening classes and completed my City and Guilds teaching qualifications and began teaching Body Massage in the evenings at MK College from 1996 to 1999.
After taking maternity leave, I moved to Dubai for 3 years where I again was self-employed and enjoyed performing treatments on expats.
I returned to the UK in 2002 and began working for MK College as a VHL (variable hours’ lecturer), I got my PGCE in 2006 from Oxford Brooks University and then I became a permanent tutor in 2013.
