This years’ awards were held at Grosvenor House in London on 24th September, hosted by Claudia Winkleman. The evening recognised the excellence of hotels, restaurants and their respective teams across the length and breadth of the UK.
First awarded in 2016, the AA College Restaurant of the Year has been developed in conjunction with People 1st to recognise accredited colleges within the AA College Rosette Scheme that have shown outstanding achievements in a realistic working environment.
Previous winners include Academy, South Cheshire College in 2017 and Foxholes Restaurant, Runshaw College in 2016.
Recently renovated, The Brasserie was commended on the ever-evolving seasonal a la carte menus and the relaxing atmosphere with a nod to vintage charm.
Maria Bowness, head of school for Hair, Beauty, Catering, Hospitality & Events, was at the evening to collect the award, commented: “It was a fantastic night of celebration and to win the AA College Restaurant of the Year award was an accolade to the Brasserie and hospitality and catering staff and the fantastic students who all work so hard day in day out. We are incredibly proud to be able to display such a fantastic accolade in our restaurant”.
The Brasserie prides itself on providing students with realistic expectations of the hospitality industry and enabling them to experience a wide range of service and production opportunities. They learn how to meet the needs of the ever-growing industry and demands of the customer, truly preparing them for the world of work.
Highlights of their menu include Pigeon Waldorf Salad, Blue cheese, pine nuts and baby gem, followed by Seabream with sweetcorn, fennel samphire and quinoa, to finish enjoy a carrot cake sundae with carrot sorbet and cinnamon granola.
