Volunteer placement hours might be possible depending on your subject area and experience.

    Is it for me?

    Entry criteria is the successful completion of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. You should have access to 30 hours teaching practice that can be logged for the duration of the course. You should have a level 3 in your subject specialist area, and have or be working towards a GCSE or level 2 equivalent for maths and English.

    • The course will enable you to take a practical and analytical approach to all aspects of training and education in the post 16 sector. You will have an opportunity to
    • Review evidence based practice in relation to current teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
    • Find out more about theories that underpin teaching, learning and assessment.
    • Discover how to build positive relationships and create a purposeful learning environment.
    • You will need to evidence 30 hours teaching practice during the duration of the course.

    You will attend college for one evening per week. There is an expectation that you will spend 3 – 5 hours per week studying outside the classroom.

    Your progress will be monitored by attending one to one tutorial sessions with the course teacher. Written feedback will be provided on your assignments to develop your written work and after observation to enable you to develop your teaching practice.

    You will be assessed through 3 observations of your teaching practice. Each module will be assessed by a variety of assignments and practical observations.
