You must be an excellent verbal and written communicator and have excellent organisational skills.

This course is entitled ‘Preparing for Progression in Active Industries’ and will allow students to develop basic transferable skills to prepare them for the next steps within the college. This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Sport or Public Services. Students will be required to participate in both theory and practical lessons throughout the college week and be encouraged to develop their skills by participating in college extra-curricular activities. Some of the current students have aspirations of becoming a Personal Trainer, a Sports coach or even a Senior Officer in the Police. When studying this course, two qualifications will be completed; Level 1 in Uniformed Services and Level 1 in Exercise Studies. Students will complete the following units during a one-year course;

Level 1 Award in Exercise Studies

  • Understand the Principles of Exercise
  • Apply the Principles of Exercise
  • Demonstrate an Understanding of safety factors relating to exercise
