What will I do?

From learning basic survival skills, to understanding the cause and control of war and conflict, to drilling and marching, no two days will be the same. You will learn more about yourself through hard work and dedication and prepare for entry in your chosen career. All of our tutors are highly-experienced in their respective fields and have vast industry links. You will take on work experience relevant to your chosen specialism, such as with Thames Valley Police. You will take part in volunteering and fundraising, learning how to work successfully in a team and in different leadership positions. You will also go on expeditions and orienteering trips, putting what you’ve learnt in the classroom to the test out in the field.

What's next?

This course will prepare you for selection for entry into a range of different services within the sector. You will understand the application process and know what will be required of you, to give you the best possible chance to get to where you want to be. You could also continue your studies with a university-level qualification here at Milton Keynes College. Your tutors will guide you through application processes, offering support where needed.

Is it for me?

If you’ve always had a desire to join any of the public services, this is an ideal place to kick off your career. You must have a tough character, and not be afraid to take on new and sometimes intimidating tasks. Leadership and team-work skills are essential, as you will often depend on your colleagues on the job. You must be able to follow instructions precisely, be respectful and act professional at all times.

You require four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English.
