What will I do?

The course consists of six units including:

  • Developing yourself as an HR practitioner
  • Resourcing talent
  • Understanding organisations and the role of HR performance and reward
  • Managing the employment relationship
  • Using HR information.

Through these units you will learn to:

  • Develop the skills needed in HR/L&D work
  • Gain an introduction to the work of the HR/L&D department
  • Assess the personnel function’s contribution to achieving organisational goals
  • Prepare and conduct face-to-face interviews
  • Use assessment and evaluation techniques
  • Recognise the practical relevance of your organisation’s policies and procedures.
  • Give basic feedback
  • Provide an awareness of the context of personnel functions and key issues that impact on HR/L&D issues
  • Be confident in all areas vital to effective and efficient recruitment and selection.
  • Plan and carry out a short training session
  • Apply the fundamentals of employment law
  • Improve the performance of the team and encourage development using effective performance review processes.

You may wish to continue your studies and other courses offered by Milton Keynes College include the CIPD Level 3 Certificate in Learning & Development and the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in HR Management.

You may continue on to the CIPD Graduate Scheme and Post-Graduate Scheme.

There are 4 assignments to complete during the course. These include an assessed project, self-study materials and maintaining a personal development portfolio.

This qualification is at Level 3.
