What will I do?

You will learn a variety of hairdressing and make-up application skills from our industry-experienced tutors and lecturers. You will receive visits from business owners, stylists and artists, enabling you to find out how to apply your skills to the industry, and a business situation.

This qualification is suited to learners seeking a career as a self- employed or employed make-up artist or junior make- up artist.
The course includes the following units: The art of photographic make-up, the art of dressing hair, shampooing and conditioning, client care and consultation, create and image within the hair and beauty sector, plaiting and twisting hair, Body art design, apply make-up , health and safety, nail art application, themed face painting.
There are also additional units included that further enhance the programme including Provide eyelash and brow treatments and spray tanning.

• Visits from professional make-up artists
• Workshops on themed topics such as ‘drag queen’
• Opportunity to attend trips and visits within the department
• Internal work experience such as assisting the drama department for theatre productions working providing the hair and make- up
• Collaborating with the level 1 and 2 hair students on projects
• External work experience including make-up consultations on ladies evenings

You require GCSE Maths and English with one at least Grade C/4 and the other at least Grade D/3.
