This course will prepare you for progression to study Level 2 Beauty Therapy or Hair and Media Make-up, as well as offer you the skills required to work as a salon assistant. You will be able to develop your skills and work out where you want to take your career in the beauty industry.
This course will cover basic beauty therapy skills, and you can expect to work both practically and through theory. You will also be expected to complete assessments on clients in the Graduate Salon.
You must have a 2 in English and Maths GCSE.
This qualification includes the required treatments to work effectively as a beauty specialist including: waxing techniques, applying make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, facial skincare, client care, health, safety and salon reception duties.
Career opportunities from this qualification include working in a commercial beauty salon as well as becoming an Independent/self-employed/mobile beauty specialist.
Whilst this qualification’s main purpose is to prepare you for employment as a beauty specialist, learners often choose to develop their skills further by progressing onto beauty therapy at Level 3 allowing the student to gain employment within spas and performing advanced beauty treatments within salons.

This course offers a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a Beauty Therapist. This qualification will support you to gain employment working in commercial beauty salons as well as hotels, spas and cruise liners. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous completion of a level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and a successful skills test and interview. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including: providing body massage, face and body electrotherapy, health and safety and client care. Opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills with optional units such as microdermabrasion are also included.
