What will I do?

The course aims to provide an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur. It covers how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes and aims to develop an understanding of diabetes diagnosis and initial care.

The Certificate in the Care and Management of Diabetes comprises of four units:
Unit 1 – Understand diabetes
Unit 2 – Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
Unit 3 – Understand the initial care of diabetes
Unit 4 – Understand the treatment and management of diabetes

The course duration is 10 weeks, and requires three to four hours of study per week. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme of study within the allocated timescale.

Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes is awarded by CACHE.

The course requires two assessments to be completed and passed to achieve the qualification. Students are allocated a tutor who will mark their assessments, and can be contacted by telephone or email if required.

Students must be at least 19 years of age to enrol for the course.

Applicants aged 19-23 are eligible if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.

Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but need a reasonable level of English language ability in order to complete a distance learning course.
Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.
