What will I do?

Around 450 million people currently suffer from mental health problems, with recent reports suggesting that over 12 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in just one year. It is important that employers are transparent and open about mental health issues, and this qualification builds an understanding of mental health problems and the support available to colleagues.

The Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace comprises of 3 units:
Unit 1 – Exploring mental health
Unit 2 – Understand how to support individuals with mental health
Unit 3 – Understand a mentally healthy environment.

This qualification requires three to four hours of study each week using the distance learning workbooks. In addition you will be required to successfully complete the tutor marked written assessment as evidence of achievement.

This course takes six weeks to complete. You can start the course at any time of the year.

Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.

Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but need a reasonable level of English language ability in order to complete a distance learning course.

Applicants aged 19-23 are eligible for this free course if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.

The course requires one assessment to be completed and passed to achieve the qualification.
