What will I do?

The Certificate in Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses consists of eleven units, examining the following topics:

–          How infection is spread

–          Ways to minimise cross infection when working with babies and young children

–          Role of policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children

–          Role of healthy initiatives when working with babies, young children and families

–          How to recognise when a baby or young child is unwell

–          How to support and care for a baby or young child who is unwell in the early years setting

–          Policies and procedures relating to the care of babies and young children who are unwell in an early years setting

–          Accidents that may occur in an early years setting

–          Serious illness in babies and young children

–          Management of acute and chronic health conditions in an early years setting

–          Allergies and food intolerance.

Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.

 

Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but need a reasonable level of English language ability in order to complete a distance learning course.

 

Applicants aged 19-23 are eligible for this free course if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.

This qualification requires three to four hours of study each week using the distance learning workbooks. In addition you will be required to successfully complete the tutor marked written assessments as evidence of achievement. This course takes six weeks to complete. You can start the course at any time of the year.

The course requires three assessments to be completed and passed to achieve the qualification.

This is a Level 2 certificate awarded by CACHE.
