What will I do?

This course provides learners with an appreciation and understanding of the different forms of dementia and how to support individuals with this condition through person-centred care. The qualification is particularly relevant to learners working within a medical or health and social care environment.

The course comprises of 7 units:

The course duration is 10 weeks, and requires three to four hours of study per week. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme of study within the allocated timescale.

Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care is awarded by CACHE.

The course requires two assessments to be completed and passed to achieve the qualification. Students are allocated a tutor who will mark their assessments, and can be contacted by telephone or email if required.

Students must be at least 19 years of age to enrol for the course.

Applicants aged 19-23 are eligible if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.

Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but need a reasonable level of English language ability in order to complete a distance learning course.

Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.
