What will I do?

This course aims to develop an understanding and appreciation of a wide range of mental health conditions. This includes signs, triggers and symptoms, how mental health can affect an individual’s ability to cope and function, as well as looking at guidance on how to potentially manage and support them with their illness on a day-to-day basis.

Is it for me?

This course is aimed at individuals working in a range of settings and wish to raise their awareness of mental health. The qualification aims to develop awareness, knowledge and understanding of various forms of mental distress, including stress, phobias, depression, dementia and schizophrenia.

The learning materials include a number of written assessments which will enable you to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes for each unit. Assessments are returned to the College for marking and completion of the qualification is based on successful achievement of unit assessments.

This qualification is a Level 2 Certificate from the awarding body ‘CACHE’.

This qualification requires three to four hours of study each week using the distance learning workbooks. In addition you will be required to successfully complete the tutor marked written assessments as evidence of achievement.

This course takes 12 weeks to complete. You can start this course at any time of the year.

Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.


Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but need a reasonable level of English language ability in order to complete a distance learning course.


Applicants aged 19-23 are eligible for this free course if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.
