What will I do?

From correctly preparing surfaces for decoration, to using high volume low pressure spray equipment and producing specialist decorative finishes, you will learn in a stimulating and professional environment both in and out of college. Work experience is a vital part of learning the trade, and you will gain essential skills and knowledge through learning on the job with a variety of local companies. You will also undertake relevant health and safety training, learning about construction technology and erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms.

What's next?

At the end of your course you will have gained enough valuable work experience and industry contacts to kick off your career. If you have ever thought about starting your own painting and decorating business, you could also continue your studies, developing your skillset in your chosen trade.

Is it for me?

Do you prefer working with your hands rather than sitting at a desk all day? Do you have a creative flair and an eye for design? A career in painting and decorating will give you the opportunity to help people bring their visions to life, collaborate on large construction projects and work in a wide variety of settings. Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to think on your feet.

Level 1: You require GCSE grades at D/3 in English or Maths.

Level 2: You require GCSE grades at C/4 or above in English and Maths.
