Over 500,000 people have the responsibility of delivering these services, ranging from early years education, social work and fostering services. You have the opportunity to make a huge difference in children’s lives, helping them to learn basic skills such as tying shoelaces or learning to count. It’s a challenging, but very rewarding industry to work in, that offers vast progression opportunities.

What will I do?

From providing activities to support children’s needs, right up to learning how to give essential paediatric emergency first aid, you will become a well-rounded care giver and educator to children of all ages. You will spend a lot of time within various workplaces, extending your skills and knowledge through hands on experience. You will explore all areas of childcare, including safeguarding, personal, social and emotional development, supporting children with additional needs and more.

What's next?

The amount of work experience you will complete on this course will prepare you to head straight into a career. You will have made plenty of industry contacts, and have the relevant desired qualifications to get going. You could also continue your studies with a university-level qualification in a relevant subject, including teacher training, nursing, social work, or psychology.

You require 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English Language.
