What will I do?

Professionalism, creativity and problem-solving are essential in crafting a successful career in this industry. In the first year of this study programme you can expect to develop these skills and more, whilst understanding more about the specifics of Business. From developing marketing campaigns, to personal and business finance, to work experience in business, you will have the choice of progressing on to an apprenticeship, or continuing your studies with the specialist units of events management and visitor attractions.

In the second year you will dive deeper into the world of business, including Principles of Management, Business Decision Making, Market Research, and more. You will be able to specialise further in what you are personally interested in. Optional units include:

  • The World of Travel and Tourism
  • Global Destinations
  • Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism

You can expect to spend two days a week out on work experience, applying your knowledge to the sector and learning from experienced teams. You will be expected to behave as a member of staff, and will be treated as a professional.

What's next?

This course is the perfect stepping stone to pursue a career in a specialist Business role within Travel and Tourism, or a relevant sector. Your next steps could be an apprenticeship, university or straight into the industry in a junior role. Your experienced tutors and progress mentors will support and guide you to make the right decision for you. You could also top up your training with professional qualifications such as AAT or CIM here at the College.

Entry requirements

You should have a C/4 or above in English and maths plus at least three other subjects at a C/4 or above or Level 2 vocational qualifications in relevant subjects.
