What will I do?

This qualification includes the required treatments to work effectively as a beauty specialist including: waxing techniques, applying make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, facial skincare, client care, health, safety and salon reception duties.

Career opportunities from this qualification include working in a commercial beauty salon as well as becoming an Independent/self-employed/mobile beauty specialist.

Whilst this qualification’s main purpose is to prepare you for employment as a beauty specialist, learners often choose to develop their skills further by progressing onto Beauty Therapy Advanced, allowing you to gain employment within spas and performing advanced beauty treatments within salons.

Units include:

  • Manual and spray tanning, threading
  • Trip to Professional Beauty exhibition, London/ Birmingham
  • Work experience placement to enhance learning and client care and communication skills
  • One day ear piercing course
  • Talks, visits and workshops from Industry experts

As a qualified Beauty Therapist you will have a multitude of options. This course is ideal to develop your skills to move on to Beauty Therapy Advanced. Your skills can take you wherever in the world you may want to go. You can find work or start your own business or you could decide to use your qualifications towards higher education, perhaps at university, to specialise in your favourite area. Students from Milton Keynes College have found work with some very prestigious employers including top spas like Champneys and Aqua Sauna at Centre Parks. Others have travelled the world with the prestigious cruise liner, Steiner.

Level 1: You require GCSE grades at E/2 or above in English & Maths

Level 2: You require GCSE Maths & English with one at least Grade C/4 and other at least Grade D/3.
