On the course you will study a wide range of humanities and social science-based subjects to give you a broad knowledge of contemporary sociological issues (such as race, class and gender), global and national politics, mass media, classical literature and ethics.

What will I do?

Alongside the subject classes, you will also be given the opportunity to develop your study skills, developing the necessary academic skills, such as essay writing, delivering presentations, research skills which will prepare you for study at university.

What's next?

This course is an accepted entrance qualification to Higher Education onto Humanities degrees such as Politics, Media Studies, History, Anthropology, International Relations, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Criminology, Sociology and Globalisation studies among others, as well as more vocational degrees such as Journalism.

Is it for me?

If you are 18 years you must have achieved at least a grade C (4/5) in GCSE English and maths, or Functional Skills Level 2 prior to starting this course.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. You need to be over 19 and have a desire to study at university level. You will be invited to an interview and asked to take an initial assessment, as good standards of English and maths are essential. If English is your second language you will need IELTS 5.5 before enrolling on this course.
