Course detail

How much will I have to study each week?

This course takes two hours per week for six weeks.

Do I need to purchase anything?

Prior to the course you will need to purchase a simple pattern as well as fabric and trimmings as specified on the pattern. You will also need to purchase 1 pattern for a simple, non-lined top, dress, trouser or skirt and enough fabric to make your chosen garment.Fabric type and amount, and any trimmings required will be specified on your chosen pattern (please do not select a pattern that requires stretch fabric as this requires specialist machinery that is not covered on this course). You should choose your pattern from any of the following pattern catalogues: Butterick, (Fast and Easy or very easy pattern) or Simplicity (It's so easy pattern). You must choose a pattern that is closest to your size. Please calculate your size from the measurements on the pattern, not just the size as they are generally come up much smaller. These patterns can normally be purchased from any fabric/dressmaking shop, or John Lewis.

How will I be assessed?

This is a recreational course with no assessment, exams or homework.

How will my progress be monitored?

Every week, students will receive verbal feedback on how their skills are developing.
