What does this course cover?

The ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management includes a combination of units which will be agreed prior to the course starting. The broad areas covered by the Units include:-

  • Core management skills – such as understanding how to organise and delegate
  • Ability to perform management tasks – manage projects, lead meetings
  • Team leadership – for example, how to motivate people to improve performance
  • Change and innovation – plan and manage change, create a culture of innovation
  • A full range of communications skills
  • Managing people and relationships – negotiation, networking, building relationships
  • Leadership – understand leadership, use action learning to develop your leadership capabilities.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to join this course but you should have at least 2 years of work experience and either be a practising or aspiring team leader.

You should also have a good command of both written and verbal English (to a Level 2 standard).

Course detail

How much will I have to study each week?

There will be one taught session per week from 6.00PM – 9.15PM. The knowledge you gain in the face to face sessions will be further embedded by you applying it in the work place. There is a requirement for wider reading and learner reflective practice.

Do I need to purchase anything?

You are not required to purchase any extra resources throughout the qualification. You may choose to join the ILM to access wider resources and to purchase books and wider published resources.

How will I be assessed?

You will be continually assessed throughout the course through written assignments and learner reflection. Assessments are a great way of checking your progress.

During the course, you'll complete ten assessments in total. These will take the form of either a reflective review or a work-based assignment, with your final assessment being a change management report.

How will my progress be monitored?

Your progress is regularly monitored through one to one tutorials and assessment of assignment work. You will have a personal tutor who will support you with your studies.
