INTRODUCTION

Every year between 1.5 and 2.5 million families access support services for children and young people. Over 500,000 people have the responsibility of delivering these services, ranging from early years education, social work and fostering services. You have the opportunity to make a huge difference in children’s lives, helping them to learn basic skills such as tying shoelaces or learning to count. It’s a challenging, but very rewarding industry to work in, that offers vast progression opportunities.

What will I do

During the Childcare Intermediate course you will become familiar with the practices of childcare, from child development to learning through play. You will develop your personal study skills, learning how to work both in teams and independently on a variety of projects. You will become able to take responsibility for your own learning and development, preparing you for studying at Level 3 or an apprenticeship. From presenting information in an engaging way, to administrative tasks and processes, your study skills will come on leaps and bounds, enabling you to tackle Level 3 coursework head on.

What’s next?

After completion of your Childcare Intermediate course, you can progress and study Childcare Advanced, where you can expect to take on over 300 hours of valuable work experience in different settings, including nurseries and local primary schools. See here to find out more about what’s next for you.

Is it for me?

Have you got a kind and caring nature? Do you want to help to educate and nurture the next generation? You must be patient and understanding, as well as passionate to progress.
