Chaffron Way Open Event - 10th November
Come along to our Chaffron Way campus to see what life at Milton Keynes College is really like.
The College’s in-house commercial restaurant, The Brasserie, has received the Highly Commended Award from AA Hotel Services, which is the highest possible accolade to receive from the organisation.
The Brasserie was inspected in March, and received a glowing report full of extremely positive feedback for the staff, venue, the variety of dishes on the menu, and of course the food itself.
The inspector particularly noted the hospitable nature of the front of house staff; she said: “The waitress looking after me in particular was most pleasant, smiley and very chatty without being too intrusive. Social interactions were instigated by the team with other diners – it was great to see”.
Having recently undergone a significant refurbishment, praise was given to the contemporary style of the venue. The report read: “A very comfortable and relaxed brasserie style; urban industrial cross interior. Light and airy space, high ceilings and boasting lots of natural light. Range of comfortable seating, chairs and coordinated banquettes. Impressive range of feature lighting”.
The inspector sampled the lunch menu, including a selection of breads at the table, and a starter consisting of smoked salmon ravioli, butternut squash and pine nuts. For mains she had pork loin, carrot quinoa, kale and cider jus. Dessert was Chocolate Delice with pistachio, raspberry.
Highlights of the food review included: “The whole experience felt like a professional and fully-established restaurant; the menus not only contained an interesting range of dishes, but they looked stylish and contemporary. The interior of the restaurant is very modern in style and wouldn’t be out of place in any major UK city. The dishes were beautifully presented and went together perfectly”.
Sarah King, restaurant manager at The Brasserie, commented: “We are very pleased to have been awarded Highly Commended by the AA for the second year running as it demonstrates the consistency that we are striving for. Our students are all trained to the AA standard so we hope they take what they learn into the wider restaurant community”.
