Elite Men's Football Team Claim Thumping Win at West Suffolk

Match Report- ECFA Cat 1 15/2/17

West Suffolk Football Academy College v MK Elite

Victory Sports Ground

MK Elite travelled to West Suffolk in half term week on a high from recent league form. MK knew a win would take them back to the top of the league with games in hand and more importantly that step closer to a third consecutive national playoff place.

Half term had not hampered MK Elite’s training programme as they started the game in typical fashion, dominating possession and space in their opponents’ half. Some tactical tweaks to ensure individuals were given specific opportunities to work on their personal development targets within the game did not affect any of MK’s fluidity with the ball. Ten minutes in saw MK have four shots on goal and already rack up 50 successful passes.

It did not take long for their opponents to crumble under such pressure and MK took a well-deserved lead with a sweeping full width move involving seven different players. Having the opposition on the back foot MK then pounced within minutes of each other and scored another three goals inside the first thirty minutes making it 4-0 at half time.

More tactical changes during the break saw MK continue where they left off in the first half and dominate their opponents from the off. A slick, fast-paced counter attack starting from the right hand side of their own penalty area ended up being headed in from a one-touch pass, move and cross combination, making the score 5-0 and effectively putting the game put to bed.

Three substitutions in the last thirty minutes kept MK fresh as their opponents continued to chase the ball, desperate for an opportunity to keep it themselves. MK finished off their scoring with a perfectly timed give and go style move on the edge of the area with a calmly placed finish into the bottom corner for the final score of 6-0.

MK Elite continued to show their superior attacking threat scoring their 48th goal in nine games in the category 1 premier league. Backroom staff involved expressed their delight in the progress MK elite are showing game by game. Everyone involved are desperate to emulate the success of last season and the backroom staff have backed this year’s players to achieve the same successes.
