MOTOR VEHICLE

Welcome to the Motor Vehicle department

What’s it all about?

Motor vehicle technicians repair and service cars, vans, motorbikes, lorries and coaches. They work on all vehicle mechanics and electrics, from engines and exhaust systems to air-conditioning and security. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience from the experts in our impressive purpose-built Motor Vehicle Workshop. The motor vehicle programmes are designed to develop your skills required for today’s automotive industry.

Is it for me?

If you enjoy problem solving and have a passion for vehicle technology and maintenance, then joining us at Milton Keynes College will help you dive into getting to know how things work underneath a car bonnet.

What will I do?

You will grow your understanding of how to repair and maintain a variety of motor vehicle systems using industry leading techniques. Our excellent links with local businesses will allow you to gain exposure to the working environment through work placements with local garages and learn how to master modern equipment.
Get involved with fundraising events including vehicle safety checking and community car washing and the prospect of exciting industry visits for example: our students have been to the British Transport Museum in Coventry, European Drag Racing Championships at Santa Pod and an Automotive Industry Expo at Silverstone F1 Circuit.

What can I do next?

Want to be a professional mechanic? Perhaps you dream of running your own garage in the future or have even considered working for the armed forces. After completing a course with us at Milton Keynes college, you may decide you are ready to enter employment or continue studying while you earn a wage with an Apprenticeship. If you want to master your skills, you may stay in full-time study and work up the levels.
