DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

Welcome to the Digital Technologies department

What’s it all about?

The technology industry is an exciting place to develop your career. 51% of tech specialists are actually employed by companies in non-tech sectors. Your future could be as an Application Developer, IT Support Engineer or Games Designer. If you dream of working in TV, film, radio or journalism, our media courses may be for you. Our Digital Technologies department provides excellent teaching from top professionals aimed at getting you ready for the world of work.

Is it for me?

If you love technology and really want to develop strong technical skills in your subject of choice and have a desire to understand the wider context of technology in the business world and the impact on the customer, then one of our courses could be for you.
You will be taught in our state-of-the-art media hub, including our high-quality TV studio with green screen, post-production gallery and Apple Mac suites.
If it is Information Technology you are interested in, learn both the business and technical elements of IT from Web Development to Networking with specialisation in Application Development or IT Technician pathways supported by the relevant industry experiences with companies like Mirus IT.

What will I do?

If you’re looking to venture into the gaming world, join us and look at concepts behind games design with the opportunity to take on a work placement with the likes of Ubisoft, get involved with pre-release games testing or even have a go at creating your own.
You’ll be taught in a variety of ways and be given the opportunity to expand your knowledge through “live projects” commissioned in-house from different college departments, and from external companies, such as live studio-based TV shows, IT development projects or games production companies.

What can I do next?

Where will your path take you? University? Apprenticeship? Employment?
Many of our students at Milton Keynes College remain in education either going on to study a Higher Education course with us or going on to University. Whichever route you decide to take; we will give you the experience needed to begin your career.
