Youth Work Teams - Volunteering
The Youth Work Team run the College’s volunteer programme. Being a volunteer gives students a chance to build upon their existing skills or interests and allows them to develop, whilst helping their community at the same time.
Volunteers are recognised for their commitment to volunteering and there are certificates awarded for local projects as well as for 100 and 200 hours of voluntary activity. The 100 hour Award is signed by the Minister for Skills and Vocational Education and the 200 hour Award of Excellence is signed by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills.
Volunteer programmes at college have included:
- logo and invitation design for the MK4U youth festival
- the design, landscaping and maintenance of the Millennium Volunteer student garden at Bletchley campus
- the design and decoration of the student Oasis Room at Chaffron Way campus
- t-shirt design and filming of MK Raw for MK Theatre
- design of student mentoring and anti-bullying posters.
Being a volunteer looks great on your CV and is a great discussion point in interviews. The voluntary work equips you with valuable skills that will appeal to employers.
