How Student Council Works
The Student Council at Milton Keynes College meets roughly twice each term to discuss issues, concerns and suggestions that aim to improve college life. Members of the student council come from tutor groups across the College. Each tutor group can nominate two students as representatives to attend student council meetings. If your tutor group doesn't have any student council reps or you don't know who they are, ask your personal tutor or contact the youth work team. The College also has a Student Governor.
Council meetings
Student council meetings take place in various venues at Chaffron Way and in the student centres at Bletchley and Kiln Farm, to find out the venue for a meeting, check out the youth work team noticeboard in the refectory at Chaffron Way or in the student centre at Bletchley. These notice boards will also show the dates of the next meetings. You can also access the minutes of previous meetings and the agenda, dates, times and venue for the next meetings online.
Focus groups
When student council meetings take place there are sometimes too many people present to have useful discussions. We have set up focus groups for students with common interests to meet together to give more time and attention to specific areas of college life.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for these groups to discuss, please let your student council rep know or contact the Youth Work Team. The minutes from previous focus group meetings and dates when the next meetings are taking place will be posted.
