Exciting News

The College has been awarded Premier College status from Badminton England, the sport's National Governing Body. Milton Keynes College is one of only 10 colleges in the country to have achieved the prestigious award, and the first within the local area.

What does Premier College status mean?

  • increase opportunities for playing badminton and raise standards for all and provide opportunities for volunteering and officiating
  • provide everyone who comes into contact with the college with a positive experience of badminton.

Key Objectives:

  • to support a high quality learning programme in badminton
  • to provide a high quality teaching and coaching programme to support and benefit all students, extending this programme into local schools and the community
  • to provide best practice in the nurturing of young badminton talent, including identification and development of talented performers, coaches, volunteers and officials
  • to raise the profile of the game through enjoyment and opportunity.

Basketball Heads to the City Centre

Basketball Heads to the City Centre

Yesterday, Milton Keynes College-Lions Basketball Academy played in a friendly competition against the England Under 16 team and the prestigious Barking Basketball Academy.

Hosted at Middleton Hall in the city centre, the purpose of the competition was to help the England Under 16 team gain experience of playing against tougher opposition in preparation for their international competitions. Barking isn't in any of the Elite College Basketball Leagues, so the College had never played them before, but their reputation stems from well-known coaches and their success in playing in international basketball tournaments. However, the College team dominated both of their games, beating Barking by 30 points and the England team by 20 points.

There were a couple of stand out players, Connor Washington and Cameron Bernard, who have both been offered full scholarships to colleges in America, but the team played an impressive game overall. They even got some glowing compliments from the opposition!
