Why Study at College?
Why Study at College?
Milton Keynes College prepares students for the real-world. We help you to choose the right course that will allow you to achieve your career goals. Whether it is University or a job that you want to go on to after college, we will provide you with the skills and support to succeed.
We have strong links with employers and work closely with them to ensure our courses reflect the skills they are looking for as well providing work experience, guest speakers, case studies and apprenticeships. We work with a diverse range of employers such as Santander, Home Retail Group, Mirus IT, Pidy, Amtech and Centre Parcs to name a few.
Most of our teaching staff have first-hand experience in their subject area, allowing them to use their expert experience to provide you with the knowledge you will need in your future career.
How is college different to school?
When you start college you become a student and are treated how you would expect to be treated in the workplace. You will not have to wear a school uniform but you will be expected to wear an ID badge at all times for your safety, similar to a work environment. Depending on your chosen course, you may wear a uniform that reflects your chosen career path.
As you will now be studying a course of your choice you will be responsible for your own learning and will be expected to work hard to achieve your personal career goals. There will be plenty of support to help you achieve this including careers and course guidance, our REED NCFE in-house recruitment service as well as financial and welfare support.
You will also have access to a range of events and activities that may not be available at school. For example you can attend Freshers Fairs, Open Mic nights, movie screenings, get involved with our elite sports teams or set up your own enterprise - find out more about student engagement here.
