Sixth Form Support

Personal tutor

Once you join Milton Keynes College, you will be assigned a personal tutor who will help you achieve your best, both personally and academically. Each Pathway will have its own tutorial group with a subject specialist personal tutor.

Core maths and academic writing

All Sixth Form students will take core maths (or GCSE maths if appropriate). A short Academic Writing course may also be taken should you need some additional training to help with essay writing.

Additional learning help

We recognise, motivate and celebrate learners of all levels. If you do need additional support while you learn, our Learning Coaches will be on hand every step of your educational journey to make sure you achieve the highest level possible.

Careers and course guidance

Our friendly careers and course guidance advisers are available to make sure you have all the information, advice and guidance you need to make the right decision about your future.

Personal support and counselling

This confidential and free service is available to all students during those times when you need emotional and personal support. Find out more and book your appointment today.

Financial support

We understand that finances can sometimes be a worry and believe it shouldn’t be a barrier to your education. That is why we award bursaries (money you don’t have to pay back) on the basis of need and other support. There is also a Free School Meal bursary available to some learners. Find out more about all possible bursaries here.

Support services

If you are unsure which support service would be suit you and your learning requirements, or you are concerned about a confidential matter, please always speak to your tutor in the first instance as they will be able to guide you to the most appropriate service.

"I enjoyed all of my subjects and always found my tutors helpful and kind. If I had a chance, I would give a big speech on my tutors, my mentor and everyone I met throughout my years at the College – they were my most memorable."
