Top Marks and Uni Places for MK6 Students
19/08/2010
Students at Milton Keynes College's sixth form, MK6, had double cause for celebration today (Thursday).
Not only did the College achieve its highest ever A-Level pass rate of 97 per cent, but 47 out of 52 second year A-Level students managed to secure themselves university places.
"It's great news on both counts, with so many students scoring good grades and getting into universities across the country," said Duncan Lovell, head of MK6, based at MK College's Bletchley Campus.
"There was some worry, especially with some of the scare stories around about the lack of university places, but so far only a handful have missed out and staff are working closely with them on their next course of action."
The College's best ever results (up 5 per cent on last year's pass rate), included another high-flying exam performance from top student Flora Morris, aged 18. Flora got As in her ‘fast-track' A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry (completed in just one year), to go along with four As in Law, Philosphy, Psychology and English gained in 2009. Flora hopes to study medicine after taking a year out to complete the required work experience.
"I'm proud of all our students and staff," said Mr Lovell. "This is the day when they get the rewards they deserve for all the hard work they put in. It's brilliant seeing them so happy and excited about the future."

MK6 A grade A-Level student Flora Morris rings her mum to tell her she's got another two A-Levels to add to the four she gained last year.
