Learning Support

If you have a disability, learning difficulty or medical condition or are recovering from a mental health condition, Milton Keynes College has a variety of resources and support services available to assist you. We treat every case individually and where possible, reasonable adjustments will be made for all students with additional needs.

Foundation Learning Department

The Learning Support Team will meet with you to discuss what support needs are required and put together a support package to help you on your course. The type of support we offer might include a Teaching Assistant in the classroom to give you and possibly a few other students extra help. We can also provide you with specialist equipment should this be required. We have a team of specialist tutors who could offer a one hour, one-to-one support session, at a time convenient to you each week.

We provide support and guidance for a variety of needs including:

  • Study Skills (organising your time and assignments)
  • Reading, writing or numeracy difficulties
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Autistic Spectrum conditions
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyscalculia
  • Hearing or Visual impairment
  • Medical conditions
  • Mental health
  • Mobility needs

We also offer a supported drop-in service, open to all students, where you can get help with literacy, numeracy and study skills; details of these are advertised around campus and on the student intranet.

You can contact the Learning Support team for more information at any point before applying and during your studies. We are based at both the Bletchley and Chaffron Way Campuses and can be contacted on 01908 684301 or email timothy.gallagher@mkcollege.ac.uk.
