Fixed term contract of 12 months initially

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Milton Keynes College is a leading Further Education College providing vocational, academic, professional and higher education courses across four Milton Keynes based campuses. The College also holds the contract to deliver the Offenders' Learning and Skills Service at various prisons and young offenders institutions.

An Exciting Opportunity
HMP Ashwell is an adult male Category C training prison with a population of 204 offenders. There are 3 residential wings. The regime is well structured in order to offer meaningful activities and interventions that lead to the resettlement and the rehabilitation of prisoners. The main aim in OLASS provision is to teach offenders skills and offer them experiences that could lead to their employment after release. The main objective of all activities is to reduce re-offending and teach offenders meaningful and transferable skills that will encourage them to lead a more fulfilling life after release.

As a Trainer/Assessor you will support the qualified teaching team in delivering an interesting and relevant curriculum using City and Guilds syllabus at levels 1 and 2. You will use your initiative and creativeness to engage and challenge students across the whole range of programmes.

As a successful candidate you will:

• Hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a bricklaying discipline.
• Have proven professional experience in bricklaying.
• Ideally have experience of delivering bricklaying qualifications.
• Ideally hold relevant assessor and verifier awards (A1, V1, D32, D33).
• Be self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and also as a member of a team.
• Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
