Milton Keynes College is a leading Further Education College providing vocational, academic, and professional higher education courses across four Milton Keynes based campuses. The College also holds the contract to deliver the Offenders' Learning and Skills Service at various prisons and young offenders institutions.
An Exciting Opportunity
The Foundation & Community Learning Department delivers Entry level and Level 1 programmes to a range of learners 16 to 25 years from diverse backgrounds, some with learning disabilities. Courses include Functional Skills English, maths and ICT, Personal Development and Employability Skills. Programmes are designed to meet the individual needs of students to ensure they are successful and their time at College is rewarding.
You might be working in a secondary school as a teaching generalist, or in a training environment. You will need to be flexible in your subject knowledge and be able to deal with challenging behaviour.
As the successful candidate you will:
• Be enthusiastic, motivated and flexible and enjoy working with young people.
• Be able to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of learners some of whom may be challenging.
• Have proven experience of successfully teaching Entry and Level 1 programmes including Skills for Life.
• Hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Literacy and/or Numeracy.
• Ideally hold a teaching qualification (DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed).
• Be able to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of students and be willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies.
• Be able to contribute, participate and share in the responsibility for the development of the Department's work.
