Enterprise
We’re committed to helping students prepare for a successful working life, through our extensive vocational skills-based curriculum, our professional staff and our industry-standard facilities.
We understand that our role is to work with students to ensure that they not only gain qualifications that will be attractive to employers, but that they also have the skills to be successful in employment or set up in business themselves.
We offer support and training which helps all our students aged 16-18 to develop their business skills through our enterprise-focused tutorial units. Employer involvement and contribution to the curriculum is becoming increasingly purposeful and effective as evidenced by:
- commercial projects undertaken in creative and performing arts with companies such as Siemens and Dominos
- our sports science students providing sports leadership in local schools
- design and prototyping work being delivered in our engineering department for local business
- events such as ‘The Apprentice’ hosted by our sixth form students and supported by Nick Hewer.
Our commitment to enterprise doesn’t stop there! This year, the College has introduced the BTEC Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at Levels 2 and 3, and the College has recently been chosen by Dragon’s Den star and multimillionaire businessman, Peter Jones to help find and train Britain’s next generation of entrepreneurs.
The College is one of only a handful of educational institutions in the country chosen to join the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy offering BTECs in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in partnership with Edexcel; these are the first qualifications of their kind for 16-19 year olds in the UK.
The courses will be offered from this September when students will be taught how to start their own business. There will be visiting lecturers and master classes from successful entrepreneurs and the students will also be involved in a number of practical workshops and real business networking events.
The College can ensure that enterprise stays at the top of our agenda as we have strong links with hundreds of employers across Milton Keynes including Red Bull, Rail Care and MK Dons. We offer the widest range of apprenticeships in the city and deliver bespoke training to companies as they need it.
The College is committed to providing enterprise opportunities during your time with us. We understand how important it is to have real experience of work alongside getting the qualification you need.
