Programme Overview This qualification is designed to develop the skills of those working in the care sector and wish to improve their understanding of working with older people in a statutory, private or voluntary context.

Participant Profile & Programme Content

Those wishing to develop knowledge and understanding of working with older people. This programme would be suitable for people working in a nursing home, residential care environment who have recently started working with older people.

The programme comprises of 6 modules:  The Needs of Older People, Health and Safety in the Care Setting, Principles of Care, Practice of Care, and Developing Interpersonal Skills. A further module must be chosen from either Infection Control or Safer Moving and Handling.

 

The learning approach is Distance Learning with tutorial support to complete assignments. There is no examination for this qualification. Candidates are provided with text based programme materials and workbooks
