This programme will appeal to IT technicians who support Windows based IT systems or experienced technicians who would like to move into this field. This unit can be used toward Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) qualification, 2003 track. Experience supporting Microsoft Windows software is essential and entry is by interview only.
This programme is designed to measure a candidate's ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Microsoft Windows XP Professional. This may include installing windows XP professional, implementing and conducting administration of resources, implementing, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting hardware devices and drivers, monitoring and optimising system performance and reliability configuring and troubleshooting the desktop environment, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network protocols and services and configuring, managing, and troubleshooting security. This unit is assessed via an electronic Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) test, 70-270.
