Apprenticeships Academy

Apprenticeship Academy

Business Administration Apprenticeship Academy Launch

The College officially launched the new Business Apprenticeship Academy during Apprenticeship Week at two employer advisory events held on Tuesday 15th February and Monday 21st February at the University Centre Milton Keynes.

The aim of the Academy is to equip apprentices with a range of skills to enable them to gain an Apprenticeship in Business Administration and permanent employment. Members of the Academy will be employed by the College on a fixed-term contract for the duration of their Apprenticeship and work within administration areas within the College. Off-the-job training will deliver not only the knowledge elements required for the framework, but a wide range of other soft skills required in order for them to be excellent work role models. Towards the end of their fixed-term contract, Apprentices will be supported in applying for permanent vacancies with employers where they can progress to higher levels of apprenticeships or training.

Feedback from employers at these events was very positive, with interest being shown in employing Academy graduates at their organisation. They were also very encouraged that the graduates with a solid grounding in Business Administration could progress to higher levels of Apprenticeships within  different sectors, such as Accounting, Customer Service, Marketing and Logistics Operations.

The College are working very closely with Jobcentre Plus - Routes to Work Programme and Connexions to encourage the recruitment of Apprentices for the Academy from the NEET group and long-term unemployed.

Health and Social Care Employer Event

Introducing the sector to the new QCF Diplomas in Health and Social Care

A very well attended employer event was held on Wednesday 19th January at the Chaffron Way Campus to introduce Care Sector employers to the new QCF Diplomas in that have been introduced from this month.  The event was also a platform for introducing the new Apprenticeship frameworks for Health and Social Care - which will be introduced to the College's Apprenticeship curriculum from February.

Two informative presentations were followed by lively discussion on the impact to the sector of new qualifications, future funding arrangements and the demise of Train to Gain.  Employers were keen to see how the new qualifications will link in with mandatory training requirements for the sector and future implications for inspection.

If you are interested in employing an Apprentice within your organisation, wish to know more about the new QCF qualifications or wish to talk to one of our advisors about training for your existing staff, please telephone our Business Helpline on 01908 637056 or email: business@mkcollege.ac.uk
