Uniformed Public Services
If you want to work within the public service sector, our Uniformed Public Service courses will help you develop the right skills, knowledge and determination needed to stand out from the crowd.
At Milton Keynes College we offer Level 1 and 2 courses in Uniformed Public Services which will allow you to develop a broad range of skills necessary to work within the public sector. As you progress through the curriculum, you will learn about the possible career paths within the fields of the armed forces (Army/Royal Navy/RAF/Royal Marines), the emergency services (Police/Fire/Ambulance), or the Criminal Justice Systems (Prison & Probation Services). We have specifically tailored our Uniformed Public Services programmes to focus on areas of the services where employment opportunities are rapidly expanding to help our students find employment quickly.
To underpin the course, students will benefit from the expert knowledge of guest speakers and also from the strong links we have with the local services, particularly within the Prison & Probation Services. Class visits and activities including rock climbing, canoeing and orienteering will also help to supplement curriculum information. This additional awareness will inform student’s knowledge of the exciting opportunities available in this sector.
We also offer a HND qualification in Public Services for anyone looking to build upon their knowledge and understanding of the Uniformed Public Services with specific emphasis on the Criminal Justice System (Police, UK Border Agency, Prison & Probation Services and Third Sector Voluntary Agencies).
Enrolment to any of the Milton Keynes College’s Uniformed Public Services courses also provides learners with access to courses in the MK Leadership Academy (additional optional qualifications offered at a low cost, e.g. first aid, leadership and coaching).
