Entry requirements

You must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym to join this course.

Those who are working towards the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym will be considered on an individual basis.

Course detail

How much will I have to study each week?

This is a 16 week blended learning course. In addition to the workshops listed below you will be required to study around 10 hours a week in order to complete the assessments set. All materials for this will be supplied.

Induction; Wednesday 1st March 17 – 6-7pm, Bletchley.
The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted at workshop 1:

  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
  • Workshop 1 - Saturday 25th March 17 – 9-5pm, Bletchley.
    The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted at workshop 2:

  • Review progress of Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
  • Workshop 2 - Wednesday 19th April 17 – 6-9pm, Bletchley.
    The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted at workshop 3:

  • Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
  • Workshop 3 - Wednesday 10th May 17 – 6-9pm, Bletchley.
    The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted at workshop 4:

  • Programming personal training with clients
  • Workshop 4 - Wednesday 24th May 17 – 6-9pm, Bletchley.
    The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted at workshop 5:

  • Assessment review and preparation for the practical assessment
  • Workshop 5 - Saturday 10th June 17 – 9-5pm, Bletchley.
    The following units will be given to you to complete through blended learning of course materials online and hard copies. These units will be submitted on the practical assessment day:

  • Assessment review and preparation for the practical assessment
  • Upgrades
  • Practical assessment - Saturday 17th June 17 – 9-5pm, Bletchley:

  • Delivering personal training sessions
  • Do I need to purchase anything?

    You are not required to wear college uniform for part time courses. However you must be dressed appropriately to lead sessions in the gym; shorts/jogging bottoms, t-shirt and trainers. Information on resources will be covered at interview.

    How will I be assessed?

    You will be continually assessed throughout the course through portfolio submissions and practical sessions. You will have a final practical assessment to deliver at the end of the course.
