Student Successes

It's so important to celebrate the successes and triumphs of our students and staff. We love to show off the fantastic work created at MK College and highlight those who have overcome the odds to succeed, and celebrate the hard work that goes into the development of education every day.

Students of the Year

Every year we dedicate a very special evening to reward our students and staff who have been nominated for their hard work, dedication, determination to succeed and enthusiasm for their subject. The evening is always a stand out event, shining a light on the wide range of achievements and successes of students and staff alike. For the past three years, our awards ceremonies have been sponsored by Imagine Presentations.

Award winners are chosen from the College’s full cohort of students from across Milton Keynes and beyond, with each having been nominated by their tutors and classmates.

On the night itself, the awards are presented by representatives of each category’s industry sponsor, demonstrating and developing the College’s partnerships with commercial businesses and providers.

Claiming the top prize as overall Student of the Year 2018 was Matthew Atkinson, in addition, Matthew also collected the prize for the Business Retail and Logistics category.

All of the 2018 Students of the Year award winners are listed below. They all perfectly demonstrate the College’s values: inspiration, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect.

Congratulations to all our amazing award winners from tonight’s ceremony. Students of the Year is always a highlight for everyone at Milton Keynes College as it gives us an excellent opportunity to recognise the hard work, dedication and achievement of our learners and staff. Each of tonight’s winners has demonstrated all of the College’s values throughout the last twelve in all their achievements and conduct; they are a credit to the College and the wider community of Milton Keynes.

Summer Showcase

We want to show the rest of Milton Keynes how much dedication, enthusiasm and talent goes into the work that gets created every day at the College. Every year we dedicate an entire weekend to creating a space to showcase a whole variety of work created by our students. In 2018 we took over Middleton Hall in the centre:mk.

This is the perfect opportunity for collaboration between different faculties, students and staff and the local community. On stage performances, catwalks, art exhibitions, activities and demonstrations are all featured throughout the event, giving our students the chance to show off their work. We also have the Milton Keynes Barber of the Year event, as well as live cook-off challengers from The Brasserie.

Graduate Salon also host a fully-working hair and beauty lounge, offering a range of complimentary treatments.

With such an array of exciting and engaging activities, there’s something for everyone who may be visiting centre:mk during the week with the talents and skills of the College’s learners at the heart of the event. By holding this kind of spectacular showcase, we’re able to really show off the hard work and dedication that takes place across the College and behind the scenes throughout the year from all those involved – students, teachers and our employer partners. It’s a genuinely exciting opportunity to share our stars with the community of Milton Keynes and show what they are capable of.

The 2018 event saw a dedicated cube stage as the focal point of the event, with the Performing Arts, Inclusive Learning, Music, Fashion & Make-up Artistry students gracing the stage, performing and taking part in catwalks to show off what they've been working on.
