Thu 1 Sep 2016 - posted by MK College

A diverse range of inspirational female role models from Milton Keynes College have been selected as finalists in this year’s prestigious Women Leaders MK Awards.

The annual awards ceremony aims to recognise the talents and achievements of women living or working in the Milton Keynes area, be it in the commercial world or within their community.

Representing MK College in this year’s selection of finalists are Jane Horridge, Commercial Director, Sally Alexander, Executive Director of the College’s Offender Learning programme and Caroline Moran, Sports Development Officer.

In addition, the College’s outgoing Chair of Governors, Fola Komolafe MBE, has also been nominated for an award.

Jane and Sally are both finalists in the Public Services category while Caroline and Fola have been nominated for the Community Impact – Professional award.

Speaking ahead of the awards, Jane was looking forward to being a part of the event. She said: “It’s an extreme honour and a privilege to be recognised as a finalist in the awards.

“Milton Keynes has many inspiring women leaders currently operating at all levels in a diverse range of businesses and organisations, demonstrating the city’s position at the forefront of modern employment equality.

“To be shortlisted alongside the other nominees – many of which I am lucky enough to call friends and colleagues – gives me immense pride and I’m really excited to see who wins the awards at the ceremony later this year.”

The Women Leaders Awards are endorsed by the national CBI First Women Awards, with all 13 category winners having the opportunity to be nominated for a national CBI First Women Award – an honour won in the past by Jan Flawn CBE of PJ Care, who now leads the MK Women Leaders Awards.

Finalists in all categories will be attending a judging day on Thursday 1stSeptember at MK College, with the eventual winners being announced at a spectacular gala awards ceremony on Friday 21st October 2016 at the Doubletree by Hilton Milton Keynes.

On the night, the awards ceremony will be attended by well-known, nationally recognised women and business leaders who have achieved success within their respective sectors.
