Pre-Entry Information

A new point based entry criteria system has been developed as a pilot for a large number of our courses, with the exception of these courses. The points system requires students to have a minimum point score that may need to be made up of specific grades in certain subjects.

Points equate to GCSE grades as follows:

A*/A = 5 pts

B = 4 pts

C = 3 pts

D = 2 pts

E = 1 pt

Points equate to BTEC qualifications as follows:

BTEC First Diploma (5 GCSEs) = Pass 15 points, merit 20 points, distinction 25.

For example to gain the correct entry criteria for a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering prospective students would need the following:

Minimum 15 points, including 5 GCSEs at grade C, including Maths or BTEC First Diploma.

See link below for a list of the courses that will continue to be recruited for using the existing GCSE grading criteria as detailed in course information on the web and in the prospectus.
